When you think about it, it is kind of sad that we work all week and only get two mornings out of seven to really enjoy everything we have worked so hard for. I live for my weekend mornings. So, when Wayfair.com asked me to write about what I love about mornings, I started smiling just thinking about it.
That face! My favorite type of morning starts off with extra time in bed to cuddle with my Reisey. She is getting older, so every extra morning we get to enjoy her is a perfect morning. Especially when the sun creeps in the windows and warms us all up. This is what home feels like!
The only thing that can get us out of bed at this point is coffee! Coffee is a must on a perfect morning, and weekends are the time to treat yourself to either a homemade french press, or a slow and worth waiting for pour-over.

Eventually we start getting hungry. I am sure it is no surprise that food has a BIG part in my mornings. A hot breakfast is a must since the weekends seem to be the only time I can make that happen.
My very favorite dish to make on Saturday mornings is skillet sweet potatoes. They are SO easy to make too. Heat some olive oil in a large frying pan, add 3 – 4 chopped sweet potatoes and some chopped onion if you like. Sprinkle liberally with Montreal Steak Seasoning. Let brown for about 5 minutes. Add 1/2 cup chicken stock, cover and simmer until potatoes are cooked through. Remove lid, and cook over medium-high heat until the liquid disappears and the potatoes start to brown and mush a little. Top with a perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg and you have the perfect weekend breakfast!

At this point, there are many different twists and turns that can make the morning only better, whether it is as simple as menu planning and prep (yes, I actually like these!) or as fun as spending time with Ryan and my niece outdoors in the sunshine and fresh air. Or maybe Ryan and I hop in the car to explore and find an unplanned adventure.
All I know is those ears and that face are what makes mornings like these the best type of mornings!
